Hannah Truby is a writer and freelance photographer based in the Reno–Tahoe region.
About
As a photographer, Hannah’s warm, down-to-earth presence allows her to connect deeply with her subjects, creating images that feel genuine and emotionally resonant.
As a writer, she specializes in long-form features and explanatory journalism, exploring the intersections of civic life, culture, and the environment, with a strong emphasis on human rights and cultural storytelling.
With a Master’s in Journalism from the University of Nevada, Reno, and a B.A. in English and German linguistics, she brings a deep appreciation for language, culture, and place to every project. Hannah is passionate about the power of storytelling to inform, inspire, and connect communities.
In addition to her freelance work, she currently serves as the editorial coordinator for Mountain Gazette and as a reporter and managing editor at The Sierra Nevada Ally.
